Sanyo Japan and PhotoAccess Partner to Provide Online Digital Photo Processing Services

Tokyo, Japan and Mountain View, CA, May 1, 2000
PhotoAccess.com Corporation, a leading Internet provider of film-quality prints from digital photos, and Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd., a leading provider of multimedia products and services, announced together today a strategic partnership to provide Sanyo Japan's digital camera customers with an easy, affordable way to obtain film-quality prints via the Internet.

The goal of this partnership is to promote the growth of the digital camera market by removing a significant barrier to digital camera use - the ability to receive high quality prints from digital photos. Through an aggressive marketing promotions strategy and campaign, the companies will reach consumers at the point of purchase by bundling the PhotoAccess print service with certain Sanyo digital photography products.

As a first initiative, consumers of the Sanyo SX-550 digital camera in Japan will receive 50 free L-sized digital photos and a PhotoStreamer™ software CD from PhotoAccess. Customers will be directed to complete a simple registration form on the Sanyo Web site (http://www.sanyo.co.jp/AV/) or on PhotoAccess (http://www.photoaccess.co.jp/sanyo). After easily uploading photos, user's can create and share secure albums, order their free prints and choose from a wide variety of personalized photo merchandise, including mugs, T-shirts, calendars and framed prints.

PhotoAccess, which launched its Japan Web site on April 10th, is the first U.S. company to bring a service to Japan that allows digital photo consumers to easily upload, share and order prints and photo merchandise via the Web. In turn, Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd. is the first Japanese digital camera manufacturer to partner with PhotoAccess.

"Based on its exceptional growth in the U.S., we believe that PhotoAccess will be an important player and strategic partner in Japan," said Hiroshi Ono, General Manager of Sanyo Electric Co.'s Video Imaging Systems Division. "Clearly, Internet digital photo processing will play a significant role in the future of the industry. As a leading provider of multimedia products and services worldwide, we are pleased to show our commitment to this medium, by offering Sanyo digital camera purchasers 50 free digital prints from PhotoAccess."

"Sanyo is a world leader in the digital camera market, and we are thrilled to be able to leverage our first-mover advantage in Japan through this partnership," said Gene Wang, chairman and CEO of PhotoAccess. "Working with Sanyo reaffirms our commitment to the world's hottest digital photo market. It is our goal to meet the specific needs of the Japanese consumer through culturally aware, localized products and services - and ultimately to provide the best solution for obtaining high-quality prints from digital photos for consumers worldwide."
