113-Drug Store Chain Unites Digital Camera Users
with Free Online Photo Storage and Printing at www.usadrug.com
PhotoAccess provides the USA Drug family - USA Drug,
Super D Drugs and Ike's Deep Discount stores - with turnkey digital photo printing,
ordering and fulfillment services
SEATTLE, Wash. and PINE BLUFF, Ark., March 27, 2001
PhotoAccess and USA Drug/Super D pharmacies announced today that
the drug store chain now offers thousands of in-store consumers the ability
to store, manage and order prints of their digital photos from a new online
service at www.usadrug.com.
According to eBrain Market Research, 48 percent of digital camera users
want to store their photos on a Website. "Adding digital photo services to our
existing photo counters is one more way USA Drug is evolving its existing retail
and online format," said Matt Teeter, director of Internet for USA Drug. "By
partnering with PhotoAccess, we were able to cost-effectively integrate digital
photo finishing into our service offerings, and quickly make it available in over
110 stores."
"I not only work at USA Drug, but I'm a digital camera user," said Jim Crane,
a store manager. "Taking digital photos is new and exciting, but storing them on
my PC takes up a lot of disk space. I'm excited that the store can offer unlimited
storage and printing services for our customers through our corporate Website
(www.usadrug.com). I've used the service and can honestly tell my customers how
easy it is to group photos and store them on the site. It's really convenient to
have all these services available in one location."
When customers walk into the photo department at USA Drug, Super D Drugs, or
Ike's Deep Discount stores, they can purchase a diskette with 30 prepaid prints
and a free copy of PhotoStreamer, a software package that makes it fast and easy
to manage digital photos on a PC/Mac desktop. With PhotoStreamer the customer can
easily upload the images to the Web site and create personal and/or guest albums.
Orders can either be shipped to the store for pick-up or delivered directly to the
customer's home.
"The digital camera is in its prime with an installed base of 25 percent of US
households," said Mark Waldin, vice president of marketing at PhotoAccess. "USA Drug is a forward
thinking photofinisher that is positioning itself well to retain and strengthen its
customer base."
